Void Work

Today's post is once again brought to you in Clare-O-Vision. She's been at me for quite a while to enter a fighter over at Void City, but for one reason or another, I never quite got around to it.

Well, until now.

What we have here is a younger version of my character Kyle Kongo, before he had accepted his role as a rich socialite and business owner, and when he was working for the Primeria Special Forces as a covert ops. (Yes, my characters have colourful histories.) He ends up in Void City after a world-jump lands him there as he's searching for the weapon which an enemy of Primeria seeks. In the mix, of course, he's going to incur the wrath of many a citizen of Void City, so it should be pretty cool.

This is the concept I'm working with for Kyle's pose when he wins a battle:

And on the shirt he wears, the Primeria Special Forces is located in the left pectoral area. I wanted to keep the logo as simple as possible, so that it would be easy to plaster all over the place, and to eventually draw in Illustrator. The concept behind it is simply a primate wearing an army helmet.

Now, for Kyle's design sheet, I wanted to show two things:
(1) That even though he's in the army, Kyle's still very conscious of knowing how to dress. He combines his standard issue uniform with a jacket (full of weapons and trinkets à la Hellboy) to look stylish on a battlefield.
(2) That Kyle's an arrogant son of a bitch. His pose alone is meant to express his cocksure nature.

Finally, this is an overview of the weapons he primarily uses while in Void City. I liked toying with the idea that the Kongo family is in possession of a set of extremely dangerous swords, because it means that I don't really have to make Kyle superpowered - just in the possession of it. I think it makes him a bit more vulnerable, and would drive him to win more because of this vulnerability.

And that's it for now, folks!

round two, FIGHT

Just like the other picture I posted before this one, same woman, done in the same way. And also I'm not happy with the lip/nose area like the other one. haha. HISTORY REPEATS!! Anyways, till I have another version to post, this is up for now. Enjoy brothas' an' sistas'

New Post...

...coming Sunday or so. I've been keeping busy this week with a Stats assignment, a wedding reception that I attended last night, and a birthday party I'll be at overnight tonight.

But there is stuff to show, so it'll be here soon as I get a chance.

Welcome to the random mind of Casey Palmer whilst he's in class.

A lot of my more random work is done while I'm sitting in class, supposed to be taking notes. I used to be able to sketch a bit at work as well, but the branch I'm in now is just too fucking busy to really get anything done. (Including my ACTUAL work!) Annoys the heck outta me, to be honest, but what to do for now. I need money until I graduate in April =) Not that I WON'T need money then, but maybe I can change my lifestyle a bit. Anyway, the first two here were originally done in blue ballpoint pen on lined paper and then cleaned up in Photoshop, and the last one is a tattoo design I did for a (now ex-)boyfriend of a coworker. Observe!

For this first one, I was visualizing him as the leader of a street gang that painted themselves as skeletons. I'm pretty sure I sketched it out while I was sitting in Psych class a few weeks back.

This was probably from the same class - Bernhardt the Belligerent Bear. Just an escape from regular stuff - you'll be seeing him time and again in the coming weeks. I like him.

And that tattoo I mentioned - I used a random 18-wheeler pic from Google for reference and changed the details to meet the specifications. There's a few small errors here and there, but I'm happy with it in general.

That's all for now, folks!

*gets pulled by the ear*

Damn, Clare, you vicious.

Right. So here I am, and you might want to know why I haven't been around for 1 1/2 months.

Um... I lack good excuses. I've been drawing here and there, and always felt that my work wasn't up to snuff. But Clare tells me that I'll never improve if people don't critique my stuff, so here I am, I guess.

I'm going to try and post once a day, before she takes my balls and uses them for shotput.

First off, we have a pair of rollerblading twins I wanted to use for a future storyline: Chisel and Slice, I think I called them. Slice isn't shown on this page, only Chisel. This shows a bit of process work I did as I tried to figure out the hairstyle I would use for him. The one in the centre on the bottom is the one I ended up choosing in the end.

Right. And then this one here is a piece that I promised to give a girl in my Psych class in exchange for some notes from a class that I missed. It was just a random assortment of some Super Mario goodness that came from the top of my head. This one I think I should colour. Most def.

And this one right hurr is just a random piece I did in my 11x14 Canson sketchbook - I was meeting up with my best friend and my brother, and was just randomly assigning songs to each of my characters. I need a bigger scanner, for sure.

That's all for now, folks! Let's see what I can whip up tomorrow!

I'M BACK BABBYYY

Because of the new computer, I had no photoshop and no scanner set up. But now I do. With a bigger and better photoshop then ever before. (from ps 5 to cs2) so here is the first one, not that it's really coloured in photoshop or anything. I like it as is. ENJOY! Oh, and P.s. this character is one my friend Ranken invented. Her name is Ami Ringo, and she's a sexy bunny girl who likes to eat much to much ramen . So other fan arts for his characters show the girls all sexy and what not, on the beach and things. I wanted to make one that was a bit more fun. Here is the character in question , drawn by Ranken himself. He's a nice guy, give him a high five!

work in progress...blogger is being an ass

Monday, November 13, 2006

This was a quick fanart done for Fooray over on DA since he gifted me with a bust of my character Hima.
This could probably use a lot of work but it was a quicky and I don't really care much for it...
This one is gonna be my next completed pic. I like it a lot, gonna attempt to color it in Painter for once.
