Random goods

I feel bad, for this will be the first time I'm posting a picture that was not made brandnew just for the blog. I'll post more then one picture to make up for my badness!! What I have is, two character sketches, and also a panel from my comic..

What we have here is ideas for a character called 'the cock-fighter' based on a good friend of mine, Jonathan Forrest. He uses his fighting to charge up his suit, then can travel through time with said suit. So I wanted there to be lots of random gear on it. And, in the finished product, it will have a big painting of a roster on the back. And that's a helmet he is holding. The idea was to make it like the space/hightech suits they would wear in 80's movies and sci-fi art. And not like the slick suits they have in movies these days.
This character is David Fauker. He is one of the main 3 InnerDark (name of the comic) characters. At first, and for a lot of battles, David will have his face covered. So, I wanted to make sure he had and interesting mask. Because if he had something like a Spawn mask all the time, it would get boring. I also wanted to show his eyes (unlike, say, Spawn, wolverine, spider-man, or batman) because you get so much emotion and character from someone's eyes, it would be a pity to cover them. And it needed a mouth hole so he could drink, and maybe smoke without having to take it off. His jacket will be different in the final comic. Shorter, and less trench coat like. Oh, and the original mask this was based off of came from Rodrigo on one of his trips around the globe. So it means more to me then just a random mask idea that looked cool. So I have him to thank for that.
And last but not least, here is a panel from my comic. I draw all the panels on separate paper, and HUGE, then do the detail, and scan them, shade them, and then stickem together with photoshop. This one is not complete as you can see. I still need to finish the furry hand on 'Big mamma' there, and maybe some back ground detail, I'm not sure yet. And that is CrazyLeg sitting down on the right hand side there. I have posted a picture of her before on here way back near the start of this site. Okay, sorry for going on and on, this is longer then it should have been I guess, but it's almost 3 in the morning, cut me some slack!! As always, enjoy!

Man I'm tired.

Okay kids, for today all you're getting is a simple concept drawing that I did in class today. I think it was last year or the year before where at a convention, a woman told me that us indy artists need to do more books geared towards children, as with all of our angsty tales of woe and misery, violence and whatever other subject matter that was clearly not for youngsters, we were ignoring a highly important demographic. So I'd been thinking about it for some time, and recently I came up with the idea of making up something of a joke kids' book, where my FNC characters would be handpuppets, and be able to teach overexaggerated random life lessons. I'd have to make up a mock comic strip to show you what I mean.

Anyway, L-R:

Doomz, Kyle, Nick, G. If I get bored in class again, I'll probably draw up some villains or something.

Peace y'all,

Chun Li

here's my Chun Li. Mm...her upper body should be leaning a lot more than what it is so it looks really stationary. Fail

King Size Kick!!!!

Okay, before anyone accuses of me of intentionally making this a panty shot, it didn't even cross my MIND until I realized that with the pose I was drawing, the resulting wind sent that flap shooting right up. Crap.

Anyway, quick pencil sketch for the Sunday theme day. Coming up next week?

Bucky O'Hare as chosen by Wage.

Bucky... CAPTAIN BUCKY O'HARE!!!

Strongest woman in the world!!

Here is Chun-li. I wanted to do a non-action pose for her. I'm not really sure if this is 100% done yet. But I wanted to make sure I posted it. Maybe if I do more to it, I'll re-post it over this one. enjoy!

Bruce lee. WACHAAAAA!!

I like Bruce Lee. He was a cool guy. A good balance of smart teacher, interesting theories, kung-fu action, cool dresser, and movie star. Not many can balance all that.

Monkey Business!

Know what I hate? I'll tell you what I hate.

I hate being at a party that I only plan to be at for a short bit, and then only end up staying longer than intended, seemingly to fulfill the random-ass requests of the people there.

I'm not a hardcore online gamer - I can't draw a Night Elf.
I haven't played Warhammer or Warhammer 40K since elementary school - no, I can't draw a Space Marine.
And lord KNOWS I'm not drawing you FREAKING HENTAI.

Maybe one day I'll be able to draw random crap off the top of my head, but I'm definitely not there yet.

Parties generally irk me -_-.

On that note, my week of art was far from spectacular, so I'll just show you what I sketched, in all honesty. I figured that I needed to start populating this city in my head with people other than my characters, so I started looking at my classmates and sketching them out monkey-style. Of course Doomz and G also show up to round things out.
Anyway, that's all for now, kiddies!

Another Monday post successfully done - YEAH, son!!!

Heroes in a half-shell... turtle power!!!

Man. Getting used to a tablet and learning new skills is DIFFICULT. But anyway, I've got my submission for theme day done and out of the way. Ladies love 'em.

Okay, that's it. I have homework to do and stuff. Peace!

Bananas son, Bananas!!!

De Mon, just anonther character developed for our game. Had to concept, model and texture. I find this not good enough to go in my demo reel compared to what I did today.

Wednesday post again

I seem to have been bitten by the Naruto fanart bug...the first one will probably remain as is, an unfinished sketch. It just isn't enough. Quick coloring for the second one...blah

Final fantasy 6

Here is my take on the opening images in Final fantasy 6 when the mechs are walking through the snow to get to narsh village. A really rough drawing done, then scanned and the rest was all photoshopped. I like the snow the best I think, as I drew all that by hand. enjoy!

Ugh, Mondays. I hate Mondays.

Worry not, fair citizens! Although I am a tad late in my post, I didn't forget about the sketchblog one bit =) My computer just hates me and clamors for more RAM -_-.

Anyway, to today's post. I draw my characters for Fish & Chimps a lot. I mean a lot. If I'm not doing the crossword or Su Doku in class, or God forbid actually taking NOTES, I'm drawing these guys. Maybe I should diversify what I do or something. Anyway, hope you enjoy these, and that I can actually participate in next weekend's jam.

Seeing as how Rodrigo and Wage were the only two to participate, they should decide on the next theme. Let us know, guys!

Later all,

P.S. There Clare, ya happy now?!

christopher walken is Luigi

(Said in christopher walken voice and speech pattern)

"Mario...he was my brother...and after he died, I...took his place. But...that's how it goes...when you treat life...like a game."

This was a sudden idea I had when thinking of the Mario theme. I mean, just think of a movie with christopher walken playing Luigi. It would not even need a mario in it. This was a very last min super fast drawing, but, I do think the Walken spirit is in it. enjoy!

Mario madness

Goomba go bang.

Let's go.

Well, I'm up...And since I didn't put a picture up last time I gotta make up for it this time. What I'm gonna do is put up a few things from last month I did for school. I had to draw and model 5 characters and do the textures for all 10. Taught myself a shit load of stuff from 3ds Max to after Effects and Painter 9. What a stressful 3 months, shit.

This was an early sketch of an elvin twin. We ended up calling her Carmella. The ideation of these characters where on the fly since the Art Lead did things ass backwards. So in turn, every thing had to be created in 2 weeks. Prior to that I had to learn to model characters.

This is how the model turned out, not bad except our game engine didn't support transparencies...Dumb DX9. That,s the lock of hair in the back.

My first model turned out okay, but it's clear it was a learning dummy, modeling and texturing. The textures for that character took waaaaaaay to long on the account of trying to have everything match up where the seams were and learning what does what. Due to a lack of time I couldn't fix the low contrast issues in the skin and tight outfit. We called her Izuma., well I did, cause they pick a non- Japanese name.

Okay, gonna stop here, there's more I wanna put up in regards to this group project and junk, but I'm gettin' ahead of myself. So before I go, I'd like to give a shout out to the man responsible for this, KCP and holla at my boy from the old school Hue-B crew, Adam. Haven't seen him since he was a professional Boxer.

Peace!

Well, it's a sketch of Aerith that seems to have some issues...I was intending on doing fanart of Sephiroth but somehow got Aerith instead...don't know if I'll clean this one up for coloring...

Tuesday, January 10, 2006

The first tuesday post.

Here is my first of the tuesday posts. This is a character from my comic that I do with my good friend Jonathan. It's been in the works for years, with little things being added here and there. Her name is Crazy Leg. Aside from that, I wont say much about her. Let the picture speak for itself. Anyway, enjoy and thanks for checking in!

Just one of those days...

Well, I'll just say that I'm glad to see that the other members of the sketchblog are so into it, wondering where the heck my post is on my posting day.

But we're in the Eastern Standard Timezone, and I still have 41 minutes to go, so neener neener to you guys.

Anyway, welcome once more to our sketchblog. I was thinking of what posts on our blog will entail, and I figure we'll just post our pic, plus whatever artsy rants and raves we have for the day. Since I've been wafting in and out of sleep since I got home from school, I'll keep it short for today, but be prepared to expect random links and insights on Mondays, because that's what I seem to do best.

It should also be noted that I'm also usually scrambling to get the updates for Fish and Chimps done on Mondays as well, so you'll need to excuse the insanity.

Anyhoo, for my image today, I decided to show something I've been working on for a bit. One of my favourite games to play back in the day was always Mega Man - I still play it from time to time now. So, after seeing throbulator's rendition of the Robot Masters from Mega Man 1 - 6, I wanted to take a crack at the ones from 1 - 5 myself. I intend to colour them later on - probably after I buy a tablet =)

Anyway, that should be about it for now. I should go check if VGCats and MegaTokyo have updated, amongst the plethora of other random things I check. I'll namedrop them later on ;)

Oh yeah. READ MY COMIC!

This is all. Enjoy yourselves! It's a celebration!

Until next time,

Better late then never...

'Better late then never' I always say. Well, I don't always say that, but, I do when I'm late. My name is Adam VanHorne. I'm 25, and wish to be a cowboy living in the hills of the badlands. I would fight wild animals with only my wits, and six shot. I have been sick for the last few days, and there for fallen in love with neo-citran. The lemon flavor one. It's non-drowsy, meaning I can stay up longer drinking more. I work on my own comic book, with my long lost friend Jonathan. This drawing is what I think my cowboy spirit would look like. Have you ever lived?

Have you ever lived?

Self portrait

My name is Rodrigo, I come from the 18th century. I used to hang with Henry Purcell, had a wife and 4 daughters. I enjoyed the velvet sunsets by the mystic hills, a life lived to the fullest...During an eveing excursion near Granada I was approached by my future self whom put me in a time suit and sent me to the late 20th century, the time suit was destroyed on the way back due to un unforseen crashlanding in the Seoul Olympic games. he told me that I have to build the suit and travel back to pick myself up in dec 22, 2012 at 6 am.

In the meantime I work at
Spin eat Korean lunches and watch Lost. I should be building my time suit but instead I'm here posting. I'm 25, I have an MP3 player but not an ipod, I have several birthmarks randomly distributed over my body, I read the tarot and have been possessed once, not many visible scars and my circulatory system is working quite well.

Any questions?

Oh Doomz, we need a discrambler saying that the copyright of the pictures belongs to the artists.
