Crunch period!

Okay guys, I'm going to have to play it a bit cheaply this week. I'm in the middle of a bunch of essays and assignments, and I don't particularly have the time to do things that I'd like to.

So let's get a few things out of the way, then!

#1: There are a couple of design contests that have a deadline of THIS SATURDAY (don't yell at me, I only found out about them tonight) that I do believe I shall enter. Feel free to submit pieces of your own as well. The prizes are fairly awesome, I must say.

Design to win an Apple Powerbook G4!!!
Design to win a scholarship to the Art Institute of Toronto!!!

#2: I was at a Homebuyer's seminar being held by work last Tuesday at the Radisson in the Meadowvale area of Mississauga, and I got pretty bored (it was good info to know, though), so I started doodling Ruddiger and his crew. They won't show up in my comic for AGES, but I have lots of plans for these guys... and girl.

#3: That's about it for now - I'm hoping that this will be a productive week overall, because life's just insane right now. Anyway, I'll see y'all when I look at y'all!!!

--doomz

P.S. THIS WEEK'S THEME WILL BE one of my favourite games of all time, because it's so fun to smack your friends around, run a tournament and take them for all they're worth. (I mean, come on, what are friends for?) And that game is...

SUPER SMASH BROS. MELEE!!!

Everyone better participate lest you wish to find a horse's head in your bed. [/Godfather reference]

missing in action

alright, so the blog has fallen into a chaos of lazyness. I am a part of the issue at hand, and well I did what had to be done.

Hope next week will bring something different. For now, here's the fish I've been working on for a while now.

Okay guys, this is just embarassing.

What HAPPENED to you guys?! It seems that right after Clare posted on Wednesday (and added an extra picture to boot later on into the day), the other half of our group fell completely off! Sure, you may have your reasons for missing the day or whatever, but at least POST your reason for not posting! This is freakin' ridiculous, guys!

But yes, courtesy of Wage, we come with an inspirational message in order for you delinquents to get up and running again:

Thank you, and good night.

post 102 I suppose

Alright, another 5 pic post from me. the first pic is a Gaia commission of some chic's original character. Number 2 is a sketch of two of my girls that I would like to finish up. I can see them being in a city setting. That'll be interesting. Number 3...really really rough OC sketch at the moment but I wanna finish that one up too. Bleh, that one's gonna need a lot of fixing. Number 4 is page 1 of a Void battle. I'm planning on taking Hima back so yeah...we'll see how I've improved. And the last one is some HAND STUDIES. Woah.

*edited* to add the black picture in there, that I just finished

Colour my day!

Here is some more colour fun, but on a good drawing this time. I took a panel from my comic, Inner Dark, which I think I've posted on here before but in black and white, and then tryed out my new way of colouring on it. I think it worked out well. If I where to make the whole comic in colour, it would be along these lines. Hhmm, not much else to say about it. Enjoy!

and on a side note, I find it funny that my post is 101, because that's my apartment number!
Oh, and P.S.

Well guys, looks like somehow we managed to get to 100 posts up in this blog! Everyone should give themselves a pat on the back =)

(That reminds me... I have a 100th comic strip to work on, don't I? Crap.)

Anyway, it's another Monday, time for another post. Hells yes!

Right, so what do we have from the Vault of Randomness today?

Alright, exhibit #1 is a shot of Franz von Chimpenheiser in his new duds. It's a scene that won't be coming up in Fish & Chimps for a while, but I brainstorm a lot. Most of the sketches I do pertaining to the future of my comic I usually keep, because they're either not refined, or they're to telling about the future storylines in my comic. I'll keep it all a surprise for now =)

And for shot #2, it's a team shot that I started on after I drew that chopstick piece yesterday. Seeing how well that first one turned out, I wanted to try a second piece to see if the creative juices were still flowing. My main problem is turning out to be how I want to depict Doomz and Nick who're on either side of Kyle in the centre, but we'll see if I can figure it out sometime soon.

And finally for today, we have a shot of a future character named Ruddiger. He shares a past with some of my main characters, and will become a very interesting character in a storyline that I don't realistically see myself getting to until 2009 or so. No, honestly. F&C is going to take AGES to draw out and complete. -_-.

Yeah, so just to show - I do draw, I just don't show all of my cards on the first round ;)

Anyway, keep drawing, everyone, and I'll be seeing y'all soon!

Until then,

Chop Suey!

Yeah, so, um, I was hoping to choose a theme for next Sunday, but Rodrigo (ya bastid!), slipped in under my radar and switched it up on me, so maybe next week. Arrrrr!!!!

Anyhoo, I'm just posting the pencils for this one so far - it's on legal-sized paper, so it didn't get all of it, but I don't mind. Just the dudes having a good time.

Ooh, and one more thing - as per Wage's suggestion, whenever you have to pick the next Theme Sunday, instead of mass emailing, from now on, you'll just edit your post with something like:

The Next Theme Is: Free Day! Post whatever you want!

Okay? Okay!

--doomz

The choice is yours!

I don't really want to take the rights to pick the next theme since I did a couple of weeks ago. So whom ever posts after me can have the choice.

The magic of chopsticks. I read a thing saying how chopsticks are much better for you then a fork. Since they give your hands more of a workout, people that use them have better hand-eye cordination, and just have stronger hands in general. So get learning if you don't know how to use them, unless you want whimpy hands forever!!!!!

the universe story

there it is, my saturday post. Since I'm posting first as well after Adam, then I say feel free to post without a topic, just whatever you want.

ALMOST late

but not so much. Alright, the first one is another card. Sailor Saturn this time. 2nd one is just a random page of sketches of my girls....the one on the top left is my favorite. Everything else *shrug* And the third pic is the finished Sailor Jupiter card which a couple of you has already seen. I definitely could've done some more work on her hair especially but whatever.

Vampire hunter D.

WHAT!?!? Two posts in one day!?!?! OH MY GOD. I had this drawing I did of vampire hunter D (best anime/manga character by the way, even though he started out in a bunch of novels) So using my new found zainy colouring technique, I used it to make it sort of have that Amano, fantasy feel. I am posting the line drawing and the coloured one, so you can see the diffrence. Sometimes when you know you are going to colour something, it's nice to keep the line drawing fairly open and looooosy goosey.

Enjoy!

Rain city

Here is a picture which was more about trying things out then the drawing itself. But, I think it turned out well, so, I'll post 'er up. Plus, I've been working on this damn thing all night, that was ALL coloured in one sitting, so, posting it makes it feel offically done! Maybe after I don't look at it for a bit, and come back to it, I'll change some things up, and re-post it over this one. But till then, enjoy! (Drawn and coloured in photoshop 5, done at about 20 inches by 30 inches. I think blogger is going to make me lose a lot of the detail that's in it, but, thems the breaks I guess.)

Man. I'm hungry.

Alright guys, I won't lie. I haven't pulled off very much on the artistic front this week at all. I have several excuses - a TON, but I don't really feel like listing them all off, because that's just a waste of time and energy. I'm getting over the tail end of this cold though, so when I return to classes, maybe I'll get some art done there, eh? Anyhoo.

This week I present a sketch of some kid I saw at the bus terminal who had a serious mohawk going on. I tried to visually study the way it was put together first as much as possible before I started to put it together. I still need to finish constructing his vest, but I think it's coming along well so far.

So yeah, here's to another Doomz Monday post! Hopefully I can pull some stuff off this week. We'll see =)

Adios amigos,

The first 3 are unfinished Sailormoon card thingies....the first one is really off for some reason but whatever...so yeah the last thing is a sketch I did today at work...actually these were all done at work ^^; but yeah I think I'll finish the last sketch up so feel free to rip it apart....

Word

Okay, so here is just a mish-mash of pictures. Some old, some new, since I didn't really have anything to new that was post worthy. I'll give you a run down of what's what.

1st picture is Vincent from the cowboy bebop movie.

2nd
picture is my character Crazy Leg. I wanted to see what she would look like real, so, I tryed making her at least semi-real.

3rd, 4th, 5th
and 6th pictures are random pages from my comic.

7th is The Pea-Cock, just the greatest super hero ever!

And I decided to keep my old post with samson in there...just....just because he is so jolly...I wanna pinch his cheeks.

This is my place holder 'till I figure out what my proper post will be. Let's give him a name. How about....samson?

Hey everyone (REMIX)!

PART ONE: I do have a few things to upload today, to be honest, but I'm busy doing a few other things at the moment, so I'll upload in a few hours. More details then!

EDIT: Alright everyone, sorry for the delay there. I was doing a few things:

*Downloading a plethora of video game soundtracks from a site that a friend directed me to: Galbadia Hotel (they have video game art books and commercials hosted there as well - it's wicked)

*Doing my taxes (not getting as much back as I hoped, but hey, it'll help pay a few things off)

*Watching the new episode of Black Cat (not the greatest anime out there, by far, but it helps pass the time on Mondays) (it should also be mentioned that Narutofan.com has just added another handful of anime titles to their already large list of those available for download by Plus! members, so I may be checking some out to waste even MORE time)

*Working on a proposal that was due yesterday for class (literally, as it's now 1:24 am when I'm typing this up)

I'd say all in all it's been a pretty productive night, but that's not what you're here for, is it? No, you're here for the art. Right. The art.

Well, today brings us a few pieces to bat.

1) The coloured version of the song-related theme day - I used marker paper for the base, Prismacolor markers for the background, and coloured pencil for Doomz in the foreground. Hence the lack of shading on Doomz, as I was to discover that coloured pencils and marker paper simply do not mix very well. Trial and error, my friends. Trial and error.

2) Of course, what would a sketchblog post from Doomz be without random-ass sketches? I explained what each one is in the image itself, so hopefully all is clear.

Right. So I have that proposal to finish, some stuff for work to study a bit more, eight more albums to download, and it don't look like I'm sleepin' tonight!!!

Have a good one, crazy folk!

Yo ho ho...whateverthefuck

pirate sketch....yup

Yarrrr!

I'm being urged by the Wagester to colour this with my tablet, but we'll see. Computers are so... distracting. It was drawn in my sketchbook with a mech pencil using .01, .05, and .08 mm Pilot felt pens to ink. Yup!

--doomz

yarrrr

So if I was a pirate I'd have a broken nose, wrinkles, and a long red beard and a gigant face.

Here's the second pirate image, I felt like I copped out by not drawing the both arms earlier and that it didn't look like me at all, so I just finished this one.
Couple hours, pencil and photoshop.

R.

Yyyeeaaarrrrrr

Here is me as a Pirate. Now, as some of you may or may not know, I do a lot of cosplay/costume stuff. So, to make this pirate picture more personalized, I added in bits of those costumes. The two shades of blue and yellow trim is Spike (cowboy bebop), the sword is Mugen (Samurai champloo) the big skull and boots is Captian Harlock (erm...Harlock (that costume is still in the starting stages)), on my shoulder is my cat MO, instead of a parrot, the belt buckle is that I always wear one. Oh, and the lyrics are part of a brodway show my friend Jonathan and I wrote years ago about a ship of 8 pirates. enjoy! YAARRRR.
