Metal Gear!

Here is a picture I did late late at night so I would have something to post at 6:19ish in the morning. Anyways, I'm posting both the coloured and un-coloured copys of it. I went and did all of the colouring, but, I think the line work is stronger without it. Less is more sometimes. But after all that work, I still want to post the coloured one as well.
This was drawn and coloured in photoshop five. Done in, eh, I'd say just over an hour. Well, enjoy!

Blogger's hatin' on me. Seriously.

Fact: I'm studying for a midterm as we speak.
Fact: I haven't drawn much of anything this week due to school.
Fact: Blogger was giving me problems as I tried to post this:

That's all for today, guys. Hopefully I can crank something a bit better out after this midterm tomorrow.

I-just-don't get down like that...

Okay, first off, sorry for the cruddy scan. I wanted to submit something inspired by a song that I've been listening to a lot as of late, which is "Get Down Like That" by Ne-Yo.

The lyrics I was focusing on are:

Girl... know I got a girl...
I-just-don't get down like that...
I can't get down like that...
You fine... know that youse a dime...
I-just-don't get down like that...
I can't get down like that...

The picture pretty much encompasses how much I like this guy's work. His album In My Own Words is something that I brushed aside at first, but like DMX's It's Dark and Hell is Hot, it eventually grew on me. Hence, Ne-Yo on the poster in the background.

This is on marker paper, so I'll try to mess around with some colour on it.

Holla!

Here we are, Born to be kings,
We're the princes of the universe,
Here we belong, Fighting to survive,
In a world with the darkest powers,
And here we are, We're the princes of the universe,
Here we belong, Fighting for survival,
We've come to be the rules of your world,
I am immortal, I have inside me blood of kings,
I have no rival, No man can bemy equal,
Take me to the future of your world,
Born to be kings, Princes of the universe,
Fighting and free, Got your world in my hand,
I'm here for your love and I'll make my stand,
We were born to be princes of the universe,
No man could understand. My power is in my own hand,
Ooh, Ooh, Ooh, People talk about you,
People say you've had your day,
I'm a man that will go far,
Fly the moon and reach for the stars,
With my sword and head held high,
Got to pass the test first time - yeah,
I know that people talk about me I hear it every day,
But I can prove you worng cos I'm right first time,
Yeah. Yeah. Alright, Wathc this man fly,
Bring on the girls,
Here We are. Born to be kings. We're the princes of
the universe. Here we belong. Born to be kings,
Princes of the universe. Fighting and free,
Got the world in my hands. I'm here for your love,
And I'll make my stand,
We were born to be princes of the universe.

Queen rocks.

I should be coloring...

Alrighty, 5 more for you people...lessee, the first one is a sketch of Naruto. A somewhat older looking Naruto...I think I've completely given up on what to do with his left arm. It's a mess. I hate grubby sketches....sorry bout that. Any suggestions bout that arm would be welcome though... Sketch number 2 is something I plan on finishing eventually with background and interesting things like that....the 3rd one is Sunflower after being edited due to Rodrigo's suggestions (THANK YOU). It turned out well enough that I'm actually coloring it with markers as well. Example number 4 is also card number 3. It turned out well. I'm supposed to send it to Casey but....we'll see how that goes ^^; Number 5, is what I'm coloring at the moment. His hair will be time consuming I see....blah. Till next Wednesday :)

Hey kids, it's time for a secret cartoon!!

I thought for today, I'd post a couple of pictures that are not along the lines of my others. I mostly do a very detailed, semi-realistic style. But I've been looking through John K's blog (the guy who invented and drew Ren & Stimpy) after Rodrigo showed it to me, and since I've had a more animation style on the brain, I did a few of my characters like that. Not by any means in John K's style, but my own take on some cartoon fun! Enjoy!

P.S. Yes, Miranda (in the second picture) has hands for feet. She is a monkey woman after all.

Oh, and another P.S. I think I'm going to start saying how each was made. So these were red pencil crayon, scanned in, and coloured in photoshop 5 (yes, I know, photoshop five, but CS is not working!)

Guess who's bizzack?!

Heyyo.

Alright, I know I haven't posted any art for a while, and for that I apologize. But I'm back with some random stuff that I came up with in the last week.

I haven't really drawn all THAT much, but it's better than nothing, right?

They're both group pics - the first was something I was putting together when I was down by Andy's Pool & Bar (Bathurst & College, downtown Toronto) for a friend's going-away shindig. People who know me know that when I start to get uninvolved in my surroundings, I start to doodle (and perchance the lady who threw the party is reading this, there were five people, and I was the odd one out when I started this - I drew Kirby on command to compensate!!!). A lot of people who've followed Fish & Chimps were surprised that I show Kyle smoking here, but I'm going to point out two things:

(1) I don't design my characters to be perfect. As time goes on, I'd like to develop their personalities, give them vices, and make them believable. This is only part of the process.
(2) He's a gay bougie-ass rich boy. They're herbal cigarettes. He wouldn't want his expensive wardrobe to be all stank. Come on, now.

And for pic two, it's something that I'm putting together on marker paper, but I might need to cheat with some Staedler fineliners in order to colour in the tighter areas.

The past while has also seen a lot of Naruto sketching (primarily from the rescue Sasuke arc) and random sketches of friends, but I'm not ready to compile all of that madness yet.

Right, so I'm going to grab a bite (and maybe grab a smiiiiiiile ... sorry, Cameo interlude ["Hangin' Downtown"]) and finish up for the night. Be seeing you on Sunday, HOPEFULLY.

--doomzy baby.

P.S. Rodridgo, you were the only one to represent for Sunday's (carried-over) theme. What's the new theme gonna be?

P.P.S. Don't post on a day that's not yours - we've got days for a reason.

P.P.P.S. We need to get hyped up again! Let's get some momentum going, y'all!!!

Okay, that's it. Really. I swear.

yep here it's my late post

So I missed Saturday. Here's last Sunday's theme pic plus some photos, I like finding alley treasures and capture their photons with batter operated camera things.
There's Mr friendly from the alley in Chinatown, Jonathan and a late evening orange selling store.

Here it is.

*hack*

ugh man, I've been sick since last Thurs. so I don't have my usual shit load of art. I recently bought some Prismacolor markers and have been trying my hand at them. These are two of my original characters on blank cards. I think I'll sell fanart on cards like these at AWA come September. At the moment though I don't know how much I'd sell them for ^^;

Not my day, but...

Actually posting cause I wanted a few opinions on which witch best suits this character. Her name is Freya and she's a witch. But a witch that would exist now, this time period.
So, the hatless witch or the skimpy dress witch?

Wheel chair lady

Now, this post might seem a bit odd I guess. I'm sure you all know the site www.somethingawful.com . And each day they have an 'awful link of the day' where they link their site to a website that they came across and want to point out or make fun of because of its strangeness or bad quality. This one link a couple of days ago was about these women in wheelchairs who would be naked, or clothed in 'sexy clothes' or even just getting in and out of a car or things like that. These where the sample pictures they had up that I saw. But they are very plain, normal looking pictures until they get naked. These women don't seem to be physically needing the wheelchairs. There legs look normal size and in good shape. But, there are tons of reasons why they could be in the chairs, so, they might be women who can walk and just sat in them for the pics, or real women who need them to get around. Anyway, I found all this very interesting. I'm not really sure why people have this fetish, I'm cool with people having it though. I personally don't find it a turn on, but still found the pictures interesting. Soooo, to make a long story longer, I decided to do today's drawing based off one of these photos. I used mostly the same colours as the woman in the original, and added her tattoo on her breast that was also in the original (if you where wondering why it's a bit green). Anyway, I'm rather rambling now, so, I'll stop and let you enjoy the pic.

Early Saturday post

Since I'm gonna be away for the weekend I'm gonna post now and not worry about this. Sadly I'll skip out on the sunday post of Gargoyles that Dimitri suggested.

here's my quick damage.

I am a photoshop hack, snake style!

These I made a while ago, I thought I share them now.

Behind the scenes in Maya!

And a little Robot.

Since we're getting in the valentine day's spitit I made a little something which can be found here.

It's little and and it's from Commando, the best film of the 20th century.

that's it, I'm off to train and learn the way of the snake.

I'm sleepy and I suck at titles...

as usual I come with a shit load of sketches and finished art. Sucks for me to have dialup. Ok, the first sketch is of an original character of mine. She usually has on these huge sleeves but she takes them off every now and then. I haven't finished her right arm yet. Boo. Second sketch is of a new character design for another original character. Casey told me he looks girly in the torso so I'll have to work on that. I'm still better at drawing girls at the moment.. Third sketch is of yet another original character named Himawari (Hima) which means sunflower...I'm already pretty fond of that sketch so if you see anything wrong be sure to point it out so I can fix it. The last 2 are just finished versions of sketches I posted last week. I finally got to cell shade something again for like the first time in forever. Yay!

Tuesday post: new picture BONUS!

Here is a picture I started doing not really knowing what it would be in the end. The only idea I had was to really strech the veiw with one of the characters. I'm not sure if it's 'done done' or if it will ever be. But I'm happy enough with it to post. BAM you're dead!
And here is a little something extra I came up with and wanted to share with all of you. Since valentine's day is almost apon us, some of you might find yourself without a nice card to add to that gift to your loved one, or teacher. So, in the tradition of the old, cheesy cards that would have ninja turtles, He-man, Dragon-ball Z, and things such as that wishing you a happy valentines day, I give you the matrix valentine day cards. Feel free to send them to whom ever you want!

What the fricka frack?

Yeah, so I'm pretty sure we're all aware that Blogger was massively effed up this weekend. Oh well, it's not ours to control, so I guess we've gotta go with what we got.

Anyway, I'm gonna have to be honest with you all, I haven't done much of anything as per art this week, which is horrible, but with all the crap I have due before Reading Week (which would be next week), I had to shift my focus. So today's post will focus more on passing on some knowledge than anything else.

Something good I came across on my friendlist over at LiveJournal was a series of links on Newsarama by someone named Jim Zubkavich who's already in "the industry" as we all know it. (That'd be comics, folks.) He's doing a bi-weekly column called "One Step" that focuses on telling would-be comic artists how to get their foot in the door and what mistakes they may be making. The first three installments are here and I think are worth a glance:

Week 1

Week 2

Week 3

As for today's sketch, all I'm posting is my WIP (work-in-progress) sketch for my comic Fish & Chimps. This week's installment will be Comic #99, and I'm trying to get it done in a reasonable amount of time. After releasing only 6 (!) strips last year, I wanted to put more of an effort into the comic this year, which I've been doing. Juggling the work, school, art, and friends ain't easy, but I'm willing to put the effort in.

But yes, enough babbling. The comic in progress:

I'm trying to be realistic, but I know I need to draw more. I don't intend to work at any of the Big Three down the road, but I would like to have art as a major part of my life, and I need to keep improving. Hopefully I can hunker down for a day or two next week and get a colour #100 out. Man.

Ah well, that's it for now. Take it easy, everyone.
