Eye spy..

It feels like forever since I've posted. Here is a picture I did a few nights ago. I wanted to try my hand at doing something a lot closer to realistic looking, since most of what I do is semi-real but still pretty comicy. What I did was, I have a HUGE copy of a digital photo of my eye, and I opend that up in photoshop, then opend a canvas in photoshop right beside it, and used the photo as a guide. All of this picture is 100% made from scratch, since some people as if I drew over the photo or not. I did not bring in any textures, or use special brushes or anything. It's just lots and lots of layers, and the brush tool, and a little bit of the burn tool, that's all. And this is not the biggest copy of it. The original is about eh, 3 or 4 times bigger then this. Each hair is its own strand, so no copying and repeating anything, or short cuts. It took me from about 12am to about 630am of the same night. I still want to touch up a few things, like make the thicker hairs of the eye brows tapper off more, and a few little things like that, but it's pretty much done. I'm going to try and do another picture like this, but with more of a body in it. Enjoy!

Alright, let's keep it basic today. This was an attempt at drawing a caricature-style version of 50 Cent (as opposed to the portraits that I sometimes do), but it ended up being more of a mixture between 50 and Lloyd Banks - aka it looks like some random individual.

Mission Failed.

Lesson Learned: More practice is required.

F**king Puper Trojan

I got this virus that's called Puper. It's more annoying than anything else. McAffee deletes it, but since it's always active it clones itself or something and it remains. Every so often when a webpage is loading it decides to take advantage of the lag and redirect you else where. Fucking can't get rid of it...fucking annoying!

This is a resurfaced, redrawn somthin'. I did it just now for the sake of posting. I might color it, might not. If I do I'll post that too. But this Trojan killed the mood.

Hey guys, captain Adam here. Rodrigo is off on a trip around the globe, or at least eastern canada, untill the 28th of this very month. He just left yesterday, so, I asked him to give me some art of his to post in his absence. So here is some for today, and I will do the same for next week.. He told me these are some character designs he is doing for a fellow he knows. I will pick them randomly from what he gave me. enjoy!

What the fuck?!

Now then, here are some pictures fortoday. sorry for being later then normal.
First we have a drawing I did of CL a while ago. I don't think I posted it here before. I'm sorry if I have. The more I wonder now, the more I'm thinking I have. Oh well, sorry if that be the case. Second we have a picture of my character Miranda the monkey woman. A friend of mine dressed up as her, and climbed up a tree and got some pics. And I've just been playing with them. I don't think this is how I will leave it. But we will see. And then third, I have taken a picture of this old man, cleaning it up. I got rid of scratches, and the little black spots on the film. And also his big mole things and liver spots and such. oh, and upped the brightness. This was just to use for an application for a company that wanted someone to do photo edditing for them. so I wanted to show a variety of things. And that my friends, as they say in the 'biz', is allllllllllll she wrote! Enjoy!

Mondays. I hate Mondays.

Taking a cue from Jim Henson's Garfield, I'm going to be upfront. I'd been working and studying for an exam I had last Friday for the course of the week, and after that, I've basically just been letting my brain chill out for a while. Combined with the concept sketches I plan to use in the future, and keep tucked away until things solidify a little more - what does this mean? Right - not much new work.

Thus, this week's contribution is a collection of sketches I've had lying around - some very recent, some a few months old. Enjoy!

Where the fuck have you been?!!

Well I’ve been around. Last week I had the intention of posting, but I was sick as fuck. This was a couple of days after talking to Doomz about how long it's been since we were sick. It's cause I didn't knock on wood. I was out for a solid 7 days.

I haven't done much anything since then, I wanted to post something finished but that ain't the case today. Cause I'm busy with other shit. Some of the stuff I did is on my site. http://dmanrose.vgd.ca/

I am currently working on a project for 3 Tone Entertainment. Only the model sheets I did are up, also a music-less video storyboard. Cause I don't have rights to the song. I tell ya, it takes some getting use to, drawing in a style that's not your own.

My plan is to make a high poly model of this character. But I have to learn Zbrush. I'm as far as opening it and familiarizing myself with the interface. Scarlet came into fruition after playing some Metal Gear Online when I used Rowdy Reiko for the first time.

This was the insparation for Scarlet's hair style, but not sure if it will be easy to model. Might be too much intersecting geomerty. Or that means I'll have to really rig the hair. But this bottom screen shot is WIP, just trying something I've never tried before. Seeing how well I can do realism. Gonna try to finish that next week if I have the time.

So I hope everybody is peachy...fuckin' eh!!

breaking my 5 pic limit here...

alright, I've been hitting the sketchbook kinda hard lately. yeah there were a few more pages but I'm at work and don't have access to them right now. So...1st pic, studies of my dragon character. Dragons are such a pain in the ass. 2nd pic is Ino from Naruto fame. It's a crack pic because Ino doesn't smoke. Whatever. Wish I'd finish it already...so slow. 3rd pic is of Hima sitting on a telephone pole. I like that one so maybe I'll finish it...4th pic, casey says she's too long but I don't want to change her cause I actually like the shape of her legs. 5th pic of another original character taken out of her usual battle gear. I like that one too. Might be worth a quick ink and color...and the last one features more Hima. Feel free to crit anything, I can take it.

Make that TWO sugars please.

Oh goodness, it's tuesday and I tottaly forgot. So, let's see what's in the old tickle trunk today that I can whip out to make up for my lack of new proper pictures.
First off, I will show you what I did the other day. I had page four of my comic you see, and ever since I did it, I really was never happy with it, but did not want to spend forever on it or I would never be able to move onto the other pages. So I left it for a very very long time, and just rememberd the other day that I should fix it up. So I took it into photoshop, and took a look at what I could do. It was really the middle panels, and the bottom right ones that bugged me the most. So I cut away the two side ones in the middle, and added onto the middle one, then compleatly re-drew the bottom right one. And then just added bits here and there to the other panels. I think it's much better then it was. But take a look for yourself. Oh, and I will be changing all the text to a better/more clear size and such later on.

So yes, the first one... ..became this one!

I had a date with this woman, she was nice. But dinner was akward.


I turned this guy into a badass 80's anime character. And got rid of his unibrow. Even villans pluck.

This was for that contest that andymcfly had on her deviant art page. But you had to have two characters in the picture, I didn't know that, and really didnt want to bother trying to work in the other. I forgot all about even having this picture till now, so might as well make use of it and post er here. Who won that by the way?


Here is my take on Ryoko from tenchi muyo, since my good friend Adam Gentle is a big fan of her, and wanted to see how I would draw her. This is from, eh, maybe a month or more before this sketch blog started? Yeah, something like that.

And last but not least. Something is just not right about this picture. I just can't place it. She is pure glam though.


Well there you go kids. It's been fun, sometimes sad, other times almost sweet. It's been quite the journey this post, filled with memorys from the past, and I'm sure it will bring us all new ones to be had. And don't mind the spelling mistakes, I just really don't feel like going through all this again. LATERZ PEEPS!

Random sketchery in the hizzouse!

Hey all ! I' m pretty darned tired today, so this is going to be more of a quick entry.

#1: An entry for a contest over at DeviantArt - we were told to illustrate the title of a song from a list given - I took "Operate, Annihilate" by Powerman 5000. Basically, it's a heart surgeon operating on an aorta, and the blood vessels there (having formed a city due to being stuck from built-up fat and cholesterol) are running for their lives as their city is destroyed. The final pencils for this will have a much larger scalpel, as per suggestions from my peers.


#2 - This was going to be one of my entries for that design contest - video game design. Basically, it's a preteen game of a superhero who gets miniaturized and stuck in a demented toystore. RPG/Superhero game. This is "SuperHood" facing off against the Teddy Ninja Army. I would love to finish this one up.


#3 - This was going to be part of my web design entry - basically the designs for the bottoms of my sidebars. I'll probably incorporate something like this into the next incarnation of my site. It'll be tough to do while taking different resolutions into consideration, though.


#4 - And finally, my favourite of today's batch. Act Two Doomz - WITH ATTITUDE!

To the stars

I always loved the ships in the star fox games. I use to draw them all the time as a kid. blowing things up and such. I always wished they made star fox toys, with nice big ships the guys could fit in. man, that would have been awesome. anyway, since they and the star fox guys are in smash bros, I did fox taking a rest watching a sun set, as the others fly by. maybe I'll do a nice proper picture of something like this. could be pretty cool.

Little freelance gig

My roommate Ben and I are teaming up on a bunch of storyboards commissioned by a former classmate of our college days back at St Claire in Windsor.
These are the rough panels that will be cleaned up and coloured in flash.
There are 3 more sets of storyboards on different topics. When they get published online, I'll link them up.
The moral is don't do drugs!
